Learning Centre Services

The Learning Resource Centres are your one-stop shop where you can complete your assignments and hand them in securely.

In the Learning Resource Centres the college provides:

  • A wide-ranging collection of learning materials and resources designed to match your course and meet your learning needs
  • Computer facilities for you to use to produce high quality assignments
  • Assignment hand-in points for all courses
  • Binding facilities for student assignments
  • Journals, magazines and newspapers
  • Professional and vocational magazines and newspapers
  • Free reservations service if the resource you want is being used by another learner
  • An inter-library loans service to get unusual resources from other centres
  • A reference and enquiry service including bibliographic checking and advice
  • Learning Resources inductions - including information skills training
  • Study spaces to work in groups or on your own
  • Affordable printing and photocopying facilities

    They stock more than 60,000 items in a range of formats including books, DVDs, CDs and online resources available through our website.

    Extras

    There are lots of things around the college for you to do. There are various facilities available at different campuses including hair and beauty salons, fitness centre and a travel shop. The bright, modern cafes offer a wide range of meals and snacks, from sandwiches to specialist menus.

    The college also has its own radio station, WCR 101.8 FM, based at the Newhampton Centre. It offers students the opportunity to become involved, both on air and behind the scenes. You don’t have to be a media student to get involved, full training will be provided.

    All students are given a Handbook and Diary which contains information on student activities and lists college policies, regulations, facilities and resources.

    Childcare

    The college has a wide range of childcare support. Teams of fully trained, caring and experienced staff offer full-time day care at the Paget Road, Wellington Road and Metro One campuses. Some community venues also offer creche facilities. A weekend club is held on Saturdays to cater for children up to 14 at Metro One campus. Play schemes are also held during some school holidays.
