  Wolverhampton City Adult Education Service
Wolverhampton Adult Education Service is committed to individuals and communities throughout the city. They aim to respond to the needs of all learners, providing opportunities to learn at work, at one of their sites in the city centre or one of the many venues in the community.

Learners can enrol on a choice of more than 600 courses offered by Wolverhampton’s Adult Education Service this year.

The courses on offer include Access and Foundation Studies covering maths, English, computing, access to higher education and family learning, or creative studies like art, craft, upholstery, jewellery, ceramics, interior design, web design, belly dancing, floristry, food hygiene and health and safety.

A wide range of language studies courses are on offer, including British Sign Language, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Punjabi, Polish, Greek, Welsh and Mandarin, and there are also professional studies such as teaching qualifications, mentoring, health and social care, retail, bookkeeping and business administration.

Fees for the courses vary and, despite recent changes to government policy relating to the cost of education courses, many learners will still be able to receive discounted rates for their courses, with others not having to pay anything at all.

All courses for learners aged 16-18 remain free, as do some courses for 19-24-year-olds. Family learning, literacy and numeracy courses remain free of charge for all learners.

In addition, the city council has ensured that learners with disabilities or learning difficulties on certain programmes will still not have to pay fees.

Learners claiming benefits such as Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and Employment Support Allowance (ESA) will not have to fund their courses although those in receipt of income support, working families' tax credits and housing benefits will now have to pay.
